Students at IAU are provided with the tools and support to become successful physicians. IAU challenges its students with a rigorous curriculum that will prepare them well for their medical board exams. Although the coursework is intense, IAU faculty and staff are dedicated to our student body. Faculty members go out of their way to assist students by meeting with them after hours or between classes.
The students, faculty and staff at IAU are comprised of various cultures, languages, and backgrounds. Being a part of this environment gives our students a unique experience that they would not get at most medical schools. Our students also work with and in the St. Lucian community while studying on the island. Through experiences in local clinics held at the school or other community events students are able to interact and learn from the local residents of St. Lucia.
IAU is always concerned with the safety and security of our students. St. Lucia is one of the safest islands in the Caribbean and our students rarely have problems with crime. However, to ensure students are aware of their surroundings and take the necessary precautions, we have a local police officer come speak with the students during New Student Orientation. We also have full-time campus security guards who students can contact at any time. IAU staff has connections with the local police station to maintain the safety of our students.

Support services are provided to help counteract academic concerns, poor health, stress, or other problems that may negatively impact the educational process.
Academic Advising - Each student is assigned a faculty advisor to provide educational support and guidance when determining future career goals.
Health Care - All University students are required to maintain health insurance coverage. There is a hospital in Vieux Fort near to the IAU campus.
There are also health clinics around the island. IAU runs clinics in the health centers. |
