St. Lucia, the 2nd largest Windward Island, has some of the finest mountain scenery in the Caribbean, excellent beaches and a friendly population.
Temperature in St. Lucia averages 83°F along the coasts. Due to Vieux Fort’s location, constant breeze keeps humidity relatively low compared to other Caribbean islands. Hurricanes are a possibility, of course, but chances of St. Lucia getting hit by a major hurricane are drastically reduced since the island is bordered by cooler Atlantic waters.
English is widely spoken among locals. Among locals, Creole, or “Kweyol,” is the language of choice. With a French and Caribbean flavor to it, Kweyol is extremely unique and should pique the interest of students who are not reluctant to learn about different cultures.
Cuisine is available to suit every taste including Creole, French, English, Italian, Chinese, Malaysian, Indian, Indonesian, American and Vegetarian.
International Direct Dialing (IDD) is available. St. Lucia's country code is 758.
