In contrast with other Caribbean islands, St. Lucia is a relatively inexpensive place to live. Most students live in off-campus apartments with roommates. All apartment are fully furnished, and are supplied with cable television.
The University Housing department will assist the students in procuring safe and economic housing in St. Lucia through “standard contracts” executed directly between the landlord and the student. Many apartments are near the University campus. Apartments are fully furnished, so students will only need to bring bedding, towels, their personal needs, and clothing. Groceries are readily available at local stores.
The IAU Housing Department staff works closely with students to select housing. The Housing Department's hours of operation are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. Please contact Mr. Sibi Kris in the housing department for more information

There are many housing options near campus. For students choosing to live further from campus, it may be necessary to buy or lease a used car, and that should be considered when determining a budget.
It is also important to note that students must live in their selected apartment for a minimum of one semester. This requirement gives students time to acclimate to their surroundings and to meet other students. It also provides landlords ample time to re-rent an apartment at the end of a semester.
Students interested in finding a roommate should let the University Housing Department know that. With student permission, the Housing Department will share contact information so students may talk with each other prior to deciding to room together.
Once an apartment is selected, the student should immediately contact the IAU Housing Department who will verify with the landlord whether the unit is still available. If the unit is available, the Housing Department will immediately email the student a housing deposit form.
